Description

The Technical Director will be responsible for promoting appropriate integration, layering, and sequencing of technical interventions within the scope of this activity. The Technical Director will also be responsible for providing technical support, coordination, and programmatic guidance as well as evidence-based input for strategic planning with the Chief of Party. S/he will work with the technical team to provide technical guidance on activities across the theory of change. S/he will provide leadership in the partnership, mobilization and mentorship of all partners, youth ambassadors, stakeholders as part of planning, designing, implementation and monitoring, as well as the expansion and scaling of the activity’s technical core components. S/he will foster a positive environment of collaboration with partners, modeling the expectations of the New Partnership Initiative to strengthen the capacity of Jamaican partners and reinforce safe enabling environments for youth-friendly, youth-centered support and inclusion of underserved youth. S/he will report to the Chief of Party and be responsible for mentorship of technical team staff.

Qualifications

The candidate for the position shall have at a minimum the following qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s degree or above in human sciences, such as youth development, sociology, international development, psychology or other humanities.

Skills and Experience:

  • 8 to 9 years of professional experience in inclusive youth or education development, community mobilization, youth-centered and youth-friendly design and program implementation.
  • Experience managing interventions related to inclusive youth or education development, community mobilization, youth-centered and youth-friendly design and program implementation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrable experience in designing and leading inclusive underserved youth development programs in contexts of conflict, crisis and violence, with a focus on positive-youth development.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with senior government officials, ministries and administrators; civil society and private sector leaders; international donors; youth leaders and youth movements; community support structures; and other stakeholders.
  • Strong experience working with youth as partners and stakeholders, and ensuring youth-centered, youth-led and youth-friendly design, implementation and collaboration.
  • Proven leadership and strong interpersonal skills.

Language:

Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Jamaican Creole strongly preferred.
